About

Hi there, and welcome to my small little space on the Internet. Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope you will stay for a little while!

As for the name of my blog, in case you're wondering, it's really pretty simple: I love to eat vegetables, and I love to clean with vinegar. They both start with a V, so everyone wins.

I make a lot of lists, so naturally I feel that lists are an easy way to sum up who I am; I'll just go ahead and give you ten brief facts about myself:

  1. As of June 2014, I am one semester of classes and one semester of student teaching away from a Music Education degree from Eastern Illinois University. I play the bassoon (among other instruments).
  2. I have been a vegetarian since I was in seventh grade (approximately nine years--approaching half of my short life). More recently, I have gained an interest in unprocessed, local, and organic foods (bonus points if a food item fits all three of those categories!)
  3. This is not my first attempt at blogging. In fact, it's my third. This will hopefully be my final attempt at producing delicious recipes, Pinterest-worthy photography, and solid writing.
  4. I do not like sweet potatoes. I will eat them when I am a guest somewhere, but I will likely never cook them myself. All other vegetables are fair game, as far as I'm concerned.
  5. I am equally obsessed with coffee and tea, depending on my mood, the weather, and the time of year. I prefer my tea unadulterated and my coffee with cream.
  6. I have no "formal training" in cooking, and I've not been cooking for long. I am constantly learning new things in my kitchen, and I believe that's one of the best parts of cooking.
  7. I cannot follow a recipe to save my life, and I have trouble creating written recipes for my dishes.
  8. My first job involved cleaning the fourth floor of my university's library every Saturday morning. In doing this, I not only learned how to deep clean, but how to enjoy doing so.
  9. I once went four months without using shampoo (can you tell I'm running out of facts?).
  10. There's this man fiancé in my life, and without his unending support and love, who knows where I'd be. Below, Mark and I at the Missouri Botanical Gardens in December 2013.
